Native pentameric human C-reactive protein (CRP / pCRP), purified from human ascitic fluid by calcium-dependent affinity chromatography on CH-Sepharose followed by hydroxylapatite chromatography, supplied as a sterile-filtered 10 mg/mL solution in calcium-stabilised buffer, 1 mg. Donors screened negative for HBsAg, HCV and HIV-1 / HIV-2 antibodies. The calcium-dependent pentameric quaternary structure is preserved and the preparation is free of stabilising additives that interfere with downstream chemistry, so it can be used directly — as an immunogen, an ELISA coating antigen, an affinity ligand, or as the starting material for generating bioactive monomeric CRP (mCRP) by the Potempa urea / EDTA chelation method.
