Description
Rabbit-host polyclonal anti-human IgM µ chain. Rabbit polyclonals are the preferred host for anti-human-Ig reagents whenever the priority is **detection sensitivity** rather than capture geometry: rabbit antisera typically reach higher titres than goat or sheep, recognise more epitopes per target, and pair cleanly with goat or mouse secondary detection in standard immunohistochemistry and Western-blot workflows. This positions cat. 818 specifically against the goat polyclonal sibling cat. 321 (capture / ELISA-focused) and the sheep polyclonal sibling cat. 898 (sandwich-ELISA / IgG-coexistence-focused).
The product is supplied unconjugated, allowing direct use as a primary antibody for IHC and Western, in-house conjugation to HRP / AP / fluorophores, or coupling to magnetic beads for low-abundance IgM enrichment. For a single-epitope, lot-to-lot reproducible monoclonal alternative, see cat. 445 (clone ICL-931).
Specifications
Catalog number: 818
Amount: 1 mg
Host: Rabbit
Format: Polyclonal, unconjugated, IgG fraction
Specificity: Human IgM (µ heavy chain)
Applications
- Western blot primary antibody for human IgM heavy chain — high-titre rabbit polyclonal gives strong signal for low-abundance bands.
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC) of plasma-cell / B-cell infiltrates in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue.
- Immunofluorescence of human IgM? B-cell subsets in tissue or cytospin.
- Detection of human IgM in serum and tissue digests by ELISA (typically as the capture or primary reagent, paired with anti-rabbit secondary detection).
- Coupling to magnetic beads or affinity columns for enrichment of low-abundance human IgM from biofluids.
- In-house conjugation to HRP, AP, biotin or fluorophores when no ready-conjugated rabbit anti-IgM matches the desired label.
