A collagen-binding β1 integrin: in ELISA it interacts with collagen type I, collagen type IV and laminin. - Collagen-receptor selectivity: α1β1 is one of the collagen-binding integrins, useful for dissecting collagen type I versus collagen type IV recognition alongside the matching YO Proteins antigens.
- Basement-membrane adhesion: both collagen type IV and laminin are basement-membrane constituents and are bound by this receptor in ELISA.
- Purified heterodimer: the preparation retains both α1 and β1 chains (confirmed by SDS-PAGE), so receptor stoichiometry is defined.
